From its origins in the Bay of Islands 30 years ago ACAP Humber Arm has grown into one of the lead community based, not-for-profit environmental organizations in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. With a strong research capacity and recognized as a leader in environmental education ACAP Humber Arm is continuously engaged in multiple initiatives, contributing to the environmental, social, and economic well-being of the Province.
Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representing a diverse cross section of stakeholders ACAP Humber Arm aspires to establish and maintain a vibrant and healthy aquatic environment through research, action, and public awareness.
Current activities are concentrated in the areas of: water quality monitoring; habitat protection and restoration; species at risk and aquatic invasive species; and, community engagement and coastal planning.
