Saint-Quentin Island is a site that tries to reconcile recreational tourism activities and the conservation of an exceptional ecological environment. Located in the urban region of Trois-Rivières, at the mouth of the Saint-Maurice River, Saint-Quentin Island is a major refuge for fauna and flora. However, the island is threatened by human pressures, shoreline erosion and invasive alien species. Japanese knotweed is the main exotic invasive plant on the island.
The Comité Zip Les Deux Rives has carried out a characterization of Japanese knotweed invasion on Saint-Quentin Island. During this inventory, the following data were collected: area of Japanese knotweed colonies, average plant height, and average stem diameter.
