Voir la Mer: Underwater Archaeological Inventory in the Parc du Bic (2019)

This underwater archaeological inventory was carried out in the Parc du Bic during the summer of 2019. It is part of a multidisciplinary approach undertaken with the Voir la Mer project, funded by the Odyssée program of the Réseau du Québec Maritime. This archaeology study includes a methodological description and the environmental description of the Bic. The historical section adresses the human occupation of the Bic based on archived documents, archaeological, and recent data. This provides the opportunity to identify coastal areas of archaeological interest. Lastly, an inventory of recorded shipwrecks and maritime incidents was created with the combination of different sources in order to target areas with high underwater archaeological potential.

The intervention included an underwater archaeological survey by remote sensing using three geophysical instruments: the side-scan sonar, the multibeam sounder, and the subsurface profiler. It was carried out between July 15 and August 2, 2019.
