As part of the St. Lawrence Action Plan 2011-2026 (SLAP), the Canadian Wildlife Service and Environment and Climate Change Canada (CWS-ECCC) and the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC) launched an initiative to identify projects involving the identification of natural environments of interest for conservation in southern Quebec. The objective is to obtain a comprehensive picture of these initiatives to guide the subsequent development of an integrated conservation plan for the SLAP study area. Ultimately, this conservation plan will serve as a tool to identify priorities for funding programs like the CIP (Community Interaction Program) and the HSP (Habitat Stewardship Program for Species at Risk) or to update the development plans of regional county municipalities.
