The mission of AMIK is to support the Innu communities in the sustainable management of aquatic and ocean resources and the development of a fishing economy, by developing an expertise allowing them to participate in an informed way in the consultative and decision-making processes related to the resource use and management, by responding to the training needs of fishermen and managers in member communities, by promoting the conservation of aquatic and ocean resources through education and awareness, and by promoting technological innovation and development of fishery and aquaculture products.
